Strategy translates the gap analysis between 'Vision' and 'Today' into a series of actions to get there. To do this you must first be very clear about where your Business, Function or team needs to be. The next step is a comprehensive assessment based on the available facts of where you currently are in relation to your Strengths, Limitations, Opportunities and Threats. Strategy is then about the deliberate steps you need to take to close the gap between where you are and where you need to be. It is an articulation of the vision in so far as possible in a way that can be understood. If done properly it will lead to stakeholder satisfaction and at the same time more effective and efficient aligned goals for individuals, teams and the overall business.
